Our Instructors

Here at Racer5 we have an assembled a motley crew of highly experienced and knowledgeable instructors.  Our instructors are current or former motorcycle racers and are extremely passionate about all things 2 wheeled!  We have tried to assemble the most personable, interesting, fun and engaging people we can find to bring you the best experience possible!

Kyle Newman

  Kyle Newman did not start riding until his twenties. He started racing a few years later with SOAR in 2014, taking home Top Rookie honours in his inaugural season. Kyle has gone on to compete in CSBK, RACE, VRRA, and OO series, taking home podiums, race wins, and championships along the way. Kyle won the SOAR Pro 600 Extreme championship in 2019, and moved up to Pro Superbike in 2021, taking home second in the Pro Open Sprint class in 2021 and 2022.

 

Tanner Sibinski

  Tanner grew up with a passion for all things mechanical, especially engines. At 19 he became a licenced motorcycle technician and for the past 5 years has been operating his own business, Sib’s Powersports Machine, specializing in performance engines and suspension. Over the past 5 years Tanner has had the opportunity to build engines and work closely with some of Canada’s top motorcycle racers.  Tanner himself have been riding and racing since he was 8, starting with motocross and progressing to road racing with SOAR in both Battle of the Twins classes.

 

Jeff Hy

  Jeff has been riding motorcycles since 2007 and a licensed SOAR racer since 2009. He has raced in SOAR, WERA and CCS series over the years all across the U.S. and Canada in Superbike and Open classes. Jeff hails from Buffalo New York and has been with the SOAR series since its inception and loves everything about performance motorcycle riding. In his down time, he enjoys building custom bikes, trucks or anything with wheels and an engine. 

 

Jennifer Roth

  Jen has been involved with motorcycle training since 2001.  She worked for the Ontario Motorcycle Safety Association for 13 years before beginning her racing career in 2010 with the Southern Ontario Association of Racing.  Involved in both endurance and sprint racing, Jen has accumulated various wins and championships over her career.  In 2014 Jen attended the FIM Women's Road Racing Training Camp in Almeria Spain.  Jen has been involved with Racer5 since 2015 and continues to ride, race and train riders with passion.

 

 

Doug Brown

  Doug started his racing career on a 125 GP motorcycle and earned his Pro designation. He went on to race in the Pro 125 GP and Pro 600 classes. Doug has raced within Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Florida. After 15 years away from racing and starting a family, Doug made his way back to racing with S.O.A.R and has been racing in the Amateur Old Folks and Battle Of The Twins Heavy classes competitively. Doug always looks forward to sharing his passion for motorcycles and the sport of racing with the Racer5 students!

 

Melanie Newman

  Melanie Newman has been riding bikes since she could walk. She joined the S.O.A.R. grids in 2015 and has never looked back. Her most notable accomplishments are the 2021 Formula Femme Champion and third place in the Lost Era Heavyweight championship. She presently races a CBR600RR in the 600 Extreme and Lost Era Lightweight and Heavyweight classes.

 

 

Jared Braun

  Jared has been riding motorcycles longer than many of the instructor at Racer5 have been alive!  After decades of street riding Jared decided to give track riding a try in 2010 on his Honda VFR.  After wearing out hard parts, some more seasoned riders suggested he get a dedicated track bike. The next year Jared went racing and within a short period of time had earned his pro racing license.  With many race wins under his belt, Jared is still best known for his nick name of the "Trash Panda".  He likes to snack...

 

Phil Leckie

 

Phil has been racing since 2012 but riding for 26 years. He started racing at SOAR in an endurance race. He moved into sprint racing and never looked back, winning many accolades that include several championships, sponsorships and respect of his fellow racers. When he went pro he moved his racing career to the Canadian Superbike Championship and in his rookie year placed 4th in the pro 600 class just in front of Michel Taylor (former CSBK Champion). In 2019 he again stepped up to the top level of competition to compete in the Pro Superbike class and has competed there since, scoring over a dozen top 10 finishes and proving he can hang with the best in Canada on the toughest tracks. 

 

Rob Holmes

 
Rob has been racing with S.O.A.R since 2010 and has really enjoyed his time. 
He has raced in 600 amateur, with grids of 30 bikes, while also winning the Open Sprint amateur championship and Heavyweight Twins championship.  Rob has also been a part of numerous S.O.A.R. endurance championship teams, and has appeared on the podium in numerous pro races. 
Over Rob's career he has also enjoyed Working with Mitch Card and David MacKay at the national CSBK level as a part of the Fast Company team. Rob loves riding and helping people achieve their riding/racing goals. 

 

 

Zoltan Frast

 

 

Zoltan has been riding since he was a kid. He started racing in 2021 and winning Championships in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 2023 he moved up to the Pro ranks and finished 2nd overall in the SOAR Pro 600 class behind National Champion David Mackay. In his spare time he rides both off road and mini bikes.

 

Chris Roth

  Chris loves all things two wheels.  Chris has been involved with motorcycle rider training since 2001 in one capacity or another.  He began road racing in 2010 and has participated in endurance, sprint and supermoto classes throughout his time with the Southern Ontario Association of Racing. He has won a couple of championships along the way and continues to race and train riders at Racer5, sharing his passion for riding and racing with students.
